Hello! This page is especially made for our upcoming and very exciting first ever International Guest Series with Kit Lee Ya Jing and Jeff Wan from Shoe Artistry (@shoeartistry), a Hongkong-based handmade leather shoe business with more than 40 years experiences in the field.
This International Workshop Series consists of 8 workshops for beginners with zero experience both in shoe designing and shoe making! We present to you 2 Sandals Making class and 6 Shoe Making class with different style and type that you can choose based on your interests! But before we begin, here's a little introduction to Shoe Artistry!
About Shoe Artistry
When this local bespoke shoe shop was forced to close down due to 3 folds increase in rent in 2011, Kit Lee took over the business and gave it a new life with his husband, Jeff Wan and a few shoes makers under their belt. The name 鞋藝工舘 in Chinese means a place for people of common interest to get together and combine businesses, apprenticeship, training that bring together both craft and artistry and eventually forms a community which is also the mission and vision of Shoe Artistry.
A true community person she is, Kit Lee and Jeff Wan is also the founder of a platform called “HNDSME Co-OP” which means Handmade Small Medium Enterprise Co-Op and Social Goods with a mission to work along the lines of Locally Designed, Locally Sourced and Locally produced in Hong Kong.

5. High Heels Making Workshop : 2 Days Course (Beginner)

Description :
This course teaches the students how to make a pair of round covered shoes in mid or high heels.
Students could choose between Mid Heels 2.5inches or High Heels 4 inches to make.
Each student will be given a mid or high heel template where they could customise their choices of materials, heels, etc and make them into a pair of wearable pair of mid or high heel shoes.
In this course the student will be cutting and piecing together the patterns they had cut out on leather and also working heavily with shoe lasts to take the shape of shoes. As well as fixing the heels onto a shoes. And with practice these shoes are something that could be put together within few hours. Methods that we teach can be transcended into any style, and size in the future.

It is advisable to take up our Shoe Design and Pattern Making Workshops together with one of our shoe making workshops
6. Ballet Flat Shoes Making Workshop (Beginner)

This course teaches the students how to make a pair of ballet flats from the start to finish. Each student will be given a ballet flats template where they could customize their own choices of materials and make them into a pair of wearable pair of flat shoes.
In this course you will be cutting and piecing together the patterns had cut out on leather and also working heavily with shoe lasts to take the shape of shoes. And with practice these shoes are something that could be put together within few hours.
Recommendation:
It is advisable to take up our Shoe Design and Pattern Making Class together with one of our making courses.
7. T-Strap Unisex Shoes Making : 2 Days Course (Intermediate Level)

Description :
In this workshop, students will learn how to construct both a functional, wearable and comfortable pair of T-Strap Unisex Flats Shoes.
Each student will be provided with a standard shoe paper pattern, shoe making tools, and shoe making materials to work with. They will be also be provided with a pair of shoe lasts of your size which they will work heavily on. Students will be guided through the many hand-making steps from constructing the uppers to the soles.
This is a fun course, and slightly intensive. Students will be working heavily with sharp tools. Though we accept students who does not have experience in shoe making. However minimal shoe making experience or some craftwork or leatherwork (leather bag making) experience is most preferred.

Description :
If you’re interested in shoe making process but don’t know where to start, shoe design and pattern making workshop is definitely a good start! Recommendations: We strongly recommend to take this course together with one of our shoe making courses with Shoeartistry in order to fully understand and experience shoe making.
You’ll learn how to design shoes from both a creative and technical point of view which also come with pattern making. You’ll be professionaly guided in transforming the 2D shoe design into 3D designs onto the shoe last and then turning them into 2D patterns. This is actually the first and most crucial step of shoe making.
This course focuses heavily on designing shoes on our given foot template, lasting the shoe last, drawing on the shoe last, cutting out and flattening the shell and pattern making. In this workshop, NO shoes will be made.
